After the success of their three sub-units, SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) is debuting another sub-unit! The new duo, CxM, features group leader S.Coups (에스쿱스) and rapper Mingyu (민규), marking both members’ first time in a sub-unit.
Earlier this week, CxM (에스쿱스X민규) announced their debut with the mini album, “Hype Vibes”, releasing on 29th September 2025 (Monday). While we prepare for the release, here are some fun facts about the highly anticipated sub-unit:
This Is SEVENTEEN’s Fourth Official Sub-Unit

CxM is SEVENTEEN’s fourth official sub-unit, following BSS (BooSeokSoon/부석순), JxW (Jeonghan and Wonwoo/정한 X 원우) and HxW (Hoshi and Woozi/호시 X 우지). However, the group is split into three teams: Hip-hop Team, Vocal Team and Performance Team, with each member assigned according to their position.
The Album & Music Video Were Recorded & Shot In America

Before the official announcement of the sub-unit, S.Coups and Mingyu spent time in the United States, specifically Los Angeles and Hawaii. The two were also spotted filming in various parts of LA, suggesting that the unit shot both the album and the music video in America, in addition to the recording of the songs.
The 3D Characters Are Called Kuute & Mante

In the first teaser video, CxM introduced the world to two 3D mascot characters, Kuute and Manta. According to reports, these two characters are alien lifeforms that visited Earth to recharge their energy through music. It’s also likely that Kuute and Mante represent S.Coups and Mingyu, given their resemblances.
S.Coups & Mingyu Have Long Teased The Sub-Unit
Even before the announcement, many fans already knew about the sub-unit’s debut because S.Coups and Mingyu had shared photos and videos from their time in the United States. However, fans are now noticing how many spoilers the two idols have shared through their social media posts, including the album’s photoshoot.
The Sub-Unit Will Debut With A Mini Album

Unlike the other sub-units, CxM will debut with a mini-album instead of a single album. Since both S.Coups and Mingyu are rappers with lyric-making experience, both of them have likely taken part in the production of the release. SEVENTEEN’s producer BUMZU is also likely helping with the project, as he did with the other sub-units.
