Whenever K-pop idols visit Malaysia, fans are quick to flood them with food and snack recommendations. Among the local favourites, many stars have expressed their love for Super Rings. One of the most frequently suggested fruits for them to try is durian.
Due to its strong odour and distinctive taste, the king of fruits isn’t to everyone’s liking. However, there are a handful of idols who genuinely enjoy the delicacy whenever they get the chance to try it, wherever they happen to find the fruit. Let’s find out who they are:
1. ZEROBASEONE Zhang Hao
ZEROBASEONE’s Zhang Hao is well known for his love of durian — he even had a durian-flavoured cake for his birthday. Naturally, he often shares his fondness for the fruit with his friends, to the point where fans jokingly say he “terrorises” fellow idols with the king of fruits. One of his most recent “victims” was TXT’s leader Soobin, who immediately started gagging after tasting durian that Zhang Hao brought onto the singer’s show.
2. I-DLE Minnie

If you were born and raised in Malaysia, Singapore, or Thailand, there’s a good chance you’re one of the many who love durian. I-DLE’s Minnie is no stranger to the fruit, as she hails from Thailand. In one of her older V Live streams, she proudly declared herself a durian lover. In another broadcast, when a fan asked for a kiss, the singer replied that they won’t appreciate the smell of durian from her mouth.
3. GOT7 BamBam
Also born and raised in Thailand, it’s not that much of a surprise that GOT7 member BamBam is a fan of durian. The last time he was in Malaysia, the idol impressed locals with his durian opening skills, even knocking on the shell to check the fruit’s ripeness.
4. GOT7 Mark Tuan
From one GOT7 member to another, Mark Tuan is also a fan of durian. During his visit to Malaysia for the Yukazan event at Aurum Theatre, The Exchange TRX, the singer also made time for other activities, including a visit to the Selangor Royal Palace and a meeting with Princess Tengku Zatashah. During his interview with ERA announcer Muna Bella and GO XUAN’s Kryston, the idol tried some Malaysian dishes with durian as one of the desserts.
5. GOT7 Jackson Wang

Superstar Jackson Wang is part of the trio in GOT7 who are obsessed with durian. It’s no wonder these three are so close, as they share a love for the fruit. The singer would get super excited whenever he received durian as a gift or whenever he got to enjoy the fruit in the countries he visited. From the compilation video above, it’s pretty clear that he’s a certified durian lover.
6. Red Velvet Irene

Irene is the only Red Velvet member who loves durian. The singer once ordered a whole box of durian to the dorm, and all the members fled to the balcony as they were not fond of the smell. When asked why she loves the fruit, she said it tastes delicious. So, whenever there is a chance for Irene to enjoy one of her favourite fruits, she will have them.
