Before Alice Chang took over the internet with her many part-time jobs, there was her sister Adeline Chang, who many may remember for her erratic behaviour, scammer tendencies and unpleasant social media comments. Unfortunately, the infamous online personality may face a jail term for her previous actions.
Recently, Adeline took to XiaoHongShu to ask netizens for advice regarding a legal case. In her now-deleted post, the social media figure revealed she has a court hearing on 24th October for a case involving the Malaysian Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC). It’s assumed that the case mentioned was her posting an obscene comment with a photo of a minor. News outlets reported that MCMC is investigating her under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Adeline claimed her family had asked her to plead guilty and would help pay the fines if she did. If found guilty, Adeline faces a maximum fine of RM50,000, imprisonment for up to one year, or both. The media personality also claimed that there is a high chance that she could lose the case as MCMC has acquired adequate evidence against her. However, she said she feels conflicted and is unsure of what to do, thus reaching out to netizens for advice.
Adeline has since deleted her post, but her sister Alice has shared it on Instagram. Many netizens reacted to Adeline’s case, but most were indifferent to her plight. Many also agreed that this is apt punishment for her actions, saying that she should own up and take responsibility. In the meantime, Alice has also asked for donations on behalf of her sister, claiming that the money would go to paying her bail.

Given her controversial history, it’s unsurprising that netizens aren’t siding with Adeline – but what are your thoughts on this? Do you think she brought this upon herself? Or are you siding with her in this case?
