TOMORROW X TOGETHER (TXT) is widely recognised as one of the most popular and successful fourth-generation K-pop idol boy groups. Each member shines in their own unique way, so much so that fans often find it hard to keep up with everything they get up to.
Kang Taehyun (태현), one of the group’s two maknae members, is well known among fans for his many titles: skilled vocalist, deadpan comedian, and talented magician. Now, the singer has one more to add to his résumé — Guinness World Record holder!

Earlier this week, Taehyun shared his latest achievement on Weverse by posting a photo of his official Guinness World Record certificate. “Who has a Guinness World Record? Me,” he cheekily captioned the post. So what record does he hold? Well, the singer had taken part in the world’s longest line of people consecutively catching a Kendama ball.
Not only was Taehyun one of 128 participants who successfully completed the challenge, alongside Hiroshi Miyama, Zoomadanke, and Kendama Heroes 2024, but he was also the very first catcher in the lineup. According to the certificate, the record-breaking event took place on the set of the 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen in Tokyo, Japan, on 31st December 2024.

Here’s a fun fact: Seventeen’s Vernon was part of the previous record-holding line-up of 127 participants, also set by NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen, in 2023. Taehyun’s new achievement has been widely shared across social media, with fans flooding the comments to congratulate him on his latest “side quest.” Some expressed how perfectly on brand it is for the 23-year-old to be part of a Guinness World Record event, while others jokingly wondered if Vernon might be feeling a little defeated after his record was surpassed by the TXT member.
Congratulations to Taehyun on being a Guinness World Record holder! May he continue to achieve more in the future.
