One does not simply mess with Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the Unburnt, Mother of Dragons, Khaleesi to Drogo‘s riders, and queen of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
A few days ago, a Daily Mail article insinuated that “Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke hated sex scenes.
Now, if you’ve been following “Game of Thrones” as much as we have, you’d know that her role in the medieval fantasy epic TV series requires her to undress and “get it on” quite a bit.
Daily Mail quoted her as saying at a party:
Sex scenes should be more subtle. I’m British, so I cringe at that sort of thing anyway – I can’t stand it.
Apparently, Emilia also added, “I don’t want to have sex thrown in my face and I’ve always thought the suggestion is so much more titillating than the act itself.” and “Most sex scenes you see in films or on TV are gratuitous and they’re usually just to attract an audience. On screen, the subtler the better.”
Which fans might find a little odd, considering the things that she has been doing for her role in “Game of Thrones“. On top of that, 2 years ago, her co-star Oona Chaplin (the granddaughter of English film star Charlie Chaplin) who played Talisa Maegyr/Stark, insinuated that Emilia had previously refused to appear in any more topless shots in “Game of Thrones”. Oona disclosed that Emilia had told programme bosses she wanted to be known for her acting, not her breasts.
Hence, it is easy to assume that Emilia would’ve made such a statement to Daily Mail. Or is it?
Emilia later took to her Instagram account to clarify that her words were taken completely out of context, and that the article was inaccurate. She also made it a point to mention that she was actually followed into the party by the Daily Mail journalist who would go on to ask her a completely unrelated question (female empowerment), which resulted in the Daily Mail article.
