A controversial video of celebrity entrepreneur Liana Rosli (Kak KM) is being examined by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). The decision to go through with it came after a series of complaints submitted by the public regarding the individuals in the video.

When it was first posted on Kak KM’s Instagram page last week, the video received mixed reactions. It shows Kak KM, fellow entrepreneur Dato’ Sri Vida (DSV), singer and actress Ifa Raziah, and Secret Desire cosmetic founder Rozita Baharom standing at the back of a red luxury car, shaking and slapping each other’s derrieres.

The statement posted on MCMC’s Facebook page emphasises that they are taking investigation seriously, as the video published is deemed vulgar. “In this regard, the public, especially celebrities who could influence the society, should set a good example and be sensitive not to upload content that is against the law”, the commissioner added.

After the MCMC and SKM have looked into the group, who are based in Kuala Lumpur and Pulau Pinang, the case is now being investigated under Section 233 of the Multimedia and Communication Act (AKM) 1998. If found guilty, they could face a maximum fine of RM50,000 or face jail time of not more than a year, or both.

Last month, DS Vida was summoned by MCMC over the music video of her Raya single, “Muah Muah Raya” because it featured drag queen dancers. Another celebrity entrepreneur reprimanded was Dato’ Seri Aliff Syukri over his “Kelepok Raya” music video, and was questioned by the MCMC for five hours.
