Dato’ Seri Aliff Syukri had to endure a five-hour-long investigation over his controversial music video “Kelepok Raya” last month. Apart from getting criticised by the public, he was reprimanded by the Religious Affairs Minister, Datuk Idris Ahmad.
The investigation was conducted by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). The Malaysian celebrity entrepreneur admitted the ordeal impacted his business and entertainment career, and refused to comment further on the investigation.
He said, “I am just a normal person and honestly, I am still traumatised by what has been happening. I will try my best to improve myself. The session took about five hours, from 10am until 3pm. (It was) my first experience (being investigated) because of the music video issue.” “Anyhow I am thankful because they treated me well. The investigation is still open, and I don’t want to give any statements in case I would say the wrong thing,” he further added.
Last Tuesday, during the Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan Eid Celebration in Hotel Berjaya Times Square, Alif said to Gempak, “I only intended to entertain you guys.” He did not expect the song would catch the attention of the public so much until the incident blew out of proportion. “I didn’t expect it would go that far. I thought it was just entertainment and nothing serious.”
Was it worth the cheap publicity? Probably no.
