Good news, Star Wars fans!
The Walt Disney Company and Lucasfilm have announced the official release date for “Star Wars: Episode IX”, the last film of the 3rd “Star Wars” trilogy.
Mark your calendars, peeps. The date is 24th May 2019.
According to IGN, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy recently confirmed that the late Carrie Fisher (the actress known for her role as Princess Leia in the earlier “Star Wars” films) will not appear in the upcoming sequel.
“Sadly, Carrie will not be in 9. But we will see a lot of Carrie in 8,” Kennedy told GMA.
She also added that the creative team behind the sequel had not yet finished the screenplay so they regrouped after Fisher’s death and “started over again” on the story so that Leia will not appear in it. Moreover, while no cast members have been confirmed yet, it was reported that Lucasfilm is preparing for the first “Star Wars: Episode IX” table read.
Meanwhile, Star Wars fans can look forward to see “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” on 15th December 2017 and the Han Solo standalone film, which stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover (otherwise known as Childish Gambino), Emilia Clarke, and Woody Harrelson, on 25th May 2018.
