Disney has unveiled the first cast photo of the yet-untitled young Han Solo “Star Wars” spinoff this morning (Wednesday, 22nd February), while announcing that principal photography has officially began at Pinewood Studios, London earlier this week.
The spinoff – set before the events of “Star Wars: A New Hope” – will explore the adventures of a young Han Solo and Chewbacca, which will inlcude “their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian”.
In the cast photo above, we see Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo (he’s the chap in the dark brown leather jacket, obviously), Donald Glover on the far right, as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson in a mentor role, as well as Emilia Clarke and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Joining them in the cockpit are directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous. We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky,” said Lord and Miller in a joint statement.
The Han Solo spinoff movie will make its escape into theatres on 25th May 2018.
