Woody Harrelson, best known for playing Katniss Everdeen’s mentor in “The Hunger Games” franchise, is in talks to join the “Star Wars” universe.
According to Variety, Harrelson is the top choice to play Han Solo’s mentor in the upcoming Han Solo standalone movie (aka ” The 2nd Star Wars Story”) starring “Hail! Caeser” actor Alden Ehrenreich.
Han Solo was first made famous by “Blade Runner” actor Harrison Ford in 1977 and the film will focus on the origin story of Han Solo and his best friend, Chewbacca (aka Chewie), before he met Luke Skywalker (played by Mark Hamill) and Princess Leia (played by Carrie Fisher). The screen play for the upcoming film will be written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan, with “22 Jump Street” directors, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, attached to direct.
It was also reported that the forthcoming movie will star Emilia Clarke (from “Me Before You”) and Donald Glover (of “Awaken, My Love!” and “Atlanta” fame) as Lando Calrissian. Filming is expected to begin production in January and it will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Allison Shearmur, who worked closely with Harrelson in “The Hunger Games”.
The untitled Han Solo solo film (no pun intended) is slated for release in 25th May 2018.
