You guys, meet your new (and young) Han Solo – Alden Ehrenreich.
After holding more than 2,500 auditions in search for the new Han Solo, directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord have finally found the perfect actor to play one of “Star Wars” most iconic characters.
26-year-old Ehrenreich starred in various feature films such as “Blue Jasmine” (2013), “Stoker” (2013), “Beautiful Creatures” (2013), and more recently, “Hail, Caesar!” (2016). Although he made his debut in 2009 through “Tetro”, he is somehow relatively unknown to many movie goers.
Until now, of course.
According to Screen Rant, the actor beat out competition from many up-and-coming young stars such as Taron Egerton (from “Kingsman: The Secret Service”), Miles Teller (from “Whiplash“), and Ansel Elgort (from “The Fault in Our Stars”).

Apparently, the executives from Disney and Lucasfilm were so impressed with Ehrenreich’s performance for his screen tests that the deal was “basically done”. The actor is currently in final negotiations with the filmmakers for the “Star Wars” franchise.
Han Solo was first made famous by Harrison Ford in 1977 and though there isn’t any information on the Han Solo movie yet, the film will focus on the origin story of Han Solo and his best friend, Chewbacca, before he met Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia.
We hope that Alden Ehrenreich is as good as filmmakers say he is because this role may be a major turning point for his career.
The film is set to release in 2018. The first stand-alone spin-off film “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is slated for release on 16th December 2016.
