Since Uber’s magic of “push a button and get a ride” launched 6 years ago (in the US), people have valued the ability to access rides on-demand through their app.
Rather than just access to rides in a moment of need, Uber is now amping up their service for those who plan ahead.
Heeding the call from their riders that sometimes they want to arrange a pickup in advance, Uber is introducing a new feature so riders can rest assured that an Uber will be available when they need it, even if it’s for a 4am ride to the airport.
Uber gets it, and that’s why today they’re starting the global roll out of Scheduled Rides!
With just a few taps on your app, you can schedule your ride 15 minutes to 30 days in advance and have the comfort of knowing your Uber will be there when it’s time to head out.
How it works:
- Select uberX and tap “Schedule a Ride”.
- Set your pickup date, time, location, and destination.
- Confirm the details of your upcoming trip and tap “Schedule uberX”. You can cancel at anytime before your ride is on the way.
- Uber will send you reminders both 24 hours and 30 minutes in advance of your pickup. You’ll be notified after your ride is on the way, as well as whether surge pricing applies
Here’s the best part: the global roll out includes Malaysia! That’s right. Starting 27th September 2016 (that’s today!), Scheduled Rides will be available in Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh, Penang, Johor Bahru, and Kota Kinabalu.
Happy riding 😉
