It’s a Monday morning at 9:30am where people are headed for work. For those working in Mid Valley Megamall or nearby, something unexpected happened.
According to a passerby who works in Mid Valley, they were puzzled to hear people shouting from afar. As they approach North Court, a few onlookers were curious to see what was causing the commotion on an early weekday.
@hypemalaysia It’s unclear why these officers were shouting & chasing people away at #MidValleyMegamall North Court – on a Monday morning.
The scene in question took place at the ground floor of North Court where several security officers in uniforms were aggressively telling people to walk away. “Wow, even the workers are being chased away,” an onlooker voiced out. For context, beauty brand Kose is currently having pop-up at North Court’s ground floor. Unfortunately, the Kose staff members were prevented from setting up their store.
Typically the stores in malls open at 10am, but another passerby revealed that there was already a large crowd gathered near the escalator at North Court’s ground floor. It is possible that the officers showed up at the scene to disperse the crowd from causing “human traffic”. Some also suspect that an anticipated launch may have caused the shoppers to show up early to wait in line.
Having said that, netizens feel that the rude behaviour from the security officer(s) at Mid Valley Megamall was uncalled for. After all, some were merely walking pass the area to get to their office/ work place.
Update:
We can officially confirm that the large crowd gathered infront of Swatch Mid Valley this morning was due to the launch of a new timepiece. The newly-launched Blackface timepiece only had 10 units and were immediately sold out. Regardless, this crowd pales in comparison to the massive crowd that gathered at Pavilion KL back in 2022.
