Uber has just turned 2 in Kuala Lumpur and in celebration of its 2nd year anniversary here, Uber has expanded its operations to Perak’s capital city throughout the month of February.
This comes just in time for Chinese New Year! For those traveling back to Ipoh with no transportation to get around, you can now opt for an Uber ride instead.
“We know that many of you will be travelling back to your hometowns over this period, and Uber is here to provide you with a smarter mobility option, and alleviate the increased burden of congestion, parking and also reducing the risk of drink driving incidents. So whether you’re looking to get home from the train station after taking the KTM to Ipoh, or get around after a few rounds of yam seng, look no further – your Uber is here!” said Uber in a statement.
Since Uber Ipoh is just hitting the streets, availability may be limited so do take note that you may have to wait slightly longer than usual.
As for the Uber rates, the base fare starts at RM 1, followed by RM0.25 per minute and RM0.50 per kilometre.
The cancelation fee will be RM5. Instead of braving through the jam later this week, you can avoid highway jams by taking a KTM train to Ipoh and getting around via Uber Ipoh. Genius, no? 🙂
Uber Ipoh is currently the 4th city in Malaysia that the ride-sharing app service is operating in. Besides Kuala Lumpur, Uber is also available in Johor Bahru and Penang.
