(Video) Netizens Outraged By Young Boy Leaving Scratch Marks On RM439 Shoes In Penang Mall

Children can be very mischievous when left unsupervised and anything can happen in a split second. That’s why parents must always keep a close eye on their children when in public to prevent them from causing disturbances or, worse, damaging property.

Unfortunately, this little boy’s parents did not monitor him, which resulted in him damaging some products in a store. Fortunately for the brand, the entire incident was caught on camera. Here’s what happened:

Earlier this week, TikTok user Nurul Syuhada posted a video of CCTV footage showing a young boy scratching two pairs of shoes at the store where she works. After he finished, the child walked over to his father, who appeared to be sitting down trying on products. The incident is believed to have occurred at Penang Design Village Outlet Mall, Pulau Pinang.

“This kid scratched our shoes with his ‘claws,’ leaving visible marks. Yes, they can be polished and repaired, but we aim to sell them in their best condition to customers,” the staff member wrote in her caption. She urged parents to remain vigilant, even if their children are no longer toddlers, as they may still misbehave.

“They are not toys for children to play with. If they want to play, please take them to the playground,” she added. In a follow-up post, the employee showcased the ‘art’ left on the shoes by the ‘artist.’ She explained that the shoes are made from beeswax or seasonal leather. While they can be repaired, “seasonal marks” can be left on them, making the items harder to sell to customers. According to The Rakyat Post, the more damaged of the two pairs—believed to be Clarks—originally cost RM439 but is currently being sold at a discounted price of RM299.

Netizens reacted strongly to the posts, with many criticising the parents for their son’s misbehaviour while also accusing them of not teaching him proper etiquette. Others shared their own retail experiences dealing with customers like those in the viral clip. Some suggested that the store should file a police report, holding the parents responsible for the damage.

There has been no update on the incident but let this be a reminder for parents to make sure their children are well-behaved in public or otherwise, they may find themselves in all kinds of trouble. Do you think the store should file a police report? Share your thoughts.

Cakar kasut kulit pakai kuku sampai bercalar balar kasut kita. Terima kasih.
