BTS (방탄소년단) members, particularly Jungkook (정국), have been victims of stalking for many years, with there being a shocking increase in stalking cases in recent months. While measures are being taken against these perpetrators, fans say they aren’t enough to protect the idols’ safety.
Earlier this week, news outlets reported that a Brazilian woman had received a suspended prison sentence for repeatedly stalking Jungkook at his home in Seoul. The Seoul Western District Court’s Criminal Chamber sentenced A to one year in prison, suspended for two years, for violating the Stalking Punishment Act and invading the BTS member’s home.

According to the prosecution, A repeatedly stalked Jungkook by visiting his home 22 times from 7th to 28th December 2025. During one of her visits, she also reportedly rang his doorbell 133 times in a single day. On 13th December 2025, police arrested A after she entered the property through a side entrance.
Despite police warnings and a court order to stay at least 100m away from the singer’s home, the woman was relentless. She continued to stalk and harass Jungkook up until January of this year. She also allegedly left photos and printed materials at his home. Eventually, she was brought to trial.
During the investigation, A denied the charges, arguing that she didn’t intend to harm the “Seven” singer and was stalking him out of love. While the judge noted that Jungkook had requested severe punishment for the stalker, the court opted to suspend the prison sentence after concluding that the woman didn’t intend to cause physical harm.

Judges also argued that the woman didn’t deeply intrude into the indoor living space of Jungkook’s home. They also took into consideration that A had already spent three months behind bars and faced deportation from South Korea once the court finalised the verdict. As such, they reduced the sentence because they believe that A is unlikely to reoffend.
Many ARMYs (BTS fans) have shared their reactions, mostly outraged at the lenient sentence. The fans argued that it wasn’t enough, noting that Jungkook himself had requested a more severe punishment. Some also lamented that the issue could lead to more harassment as perpetrators don’t face punishment.
Given how many times Jungkook has called out people for stalking him and illegally entering his home, it’s clear why fans are upset at the verdict. Many continue to urge HYBE and BigHit Music to take a stricter stance on stalkers.
