After months away from the spotlight, South Korean actor Kim Soohyun (김수현) is reportedly making a comeback. However, netizens are unsurprisingly against the move, even vowing to boycott the productions and companies that support the disgraced star.
Earlier this week, news outlets reported that Kim Soohyun is gearing up to return to the entertainment industry after more than a year away. In case you’re wondering, the once-popular actor is the subject of public scrutiny after family members of the late Kim Saeron (김새론) accused him of having an intimate relationship with the young actress when she was a minor.

The accusation and subsequent media frenzy forced the actor to retreat from the public eye. While the South Korean court recently ruled that the accusations against Kim Soohyun were false, the public’s opinion of the actor dropped significantly. However, despite the criticism, Kim Soohyun is preparing to return to acting and has even received multiple offers.
According to reports, Kim Soohyun has received over 40 film and drama scripts and is in active discussion with brands for collaborations. He also recently completed a campaign shoot with the Philippine fashion brand, Bench. There are also reports that some of Kim Soohyun’s shelved Disney+ series, “Knock-off”, will finally be released.
Many netizens have shared their reactions to the news. While some fans are happy about the comeback, the majority were unsupportive. Many even expressed disgust that the actor had the opportunity to return to showbiz, given the weight of the accusations that were against him. Some Filipinos have also slammed Bench for hiring him for their campaign.

Amid the news of his return, the letter Kim Soohyun sent to Kim Saeron while he was in the military had resurfaced on social media. The letter had previously made waves as it hinted at the then-31-year-old actor’s inappropriate relationship with the late star, who was barely 18 years old at the time.
While Kim Soohyun has yet to make an acting comeback, many are already voicing their intention to boycott his upcoming work, highlighting the consensus about his return. What are your thoughts on this?
