After much speculation, TWICE (트와이스) member Jeongyeon (정연) has confirmed her departure from her longtime agency, JYP Entertainment. However, the idol assured fans that she will remain a member of the group and will continue to participate in group activities.
Earlier today (Monday, 10th August 2026), Jeongyeon took to her personal Instagram account to share the news with her fans. In her letter, the singer wrote, “After giving a lot of thought to how to express my feelings, I am sharing this letter with you all. JYP has been my second home since my teenage years; a place where I’ve spent so much time and created so many cherished memories. I am now preparing to start a new chapter in a new place.”

Jeongyeon continued, expressing gratitude to the TWICE members, ONCEs (TWICE fans) and JYP Entertainment. However, she assured fans that she will remain a member of TWICE, saying, “The one thing I truly want to tell ONCE is that even though I am moving on to a new chapter to take on new challenges, TWICE, the centre of my life, will remain unchanged, just as it is now. Standing before ONCE as a member of TWICE will always be my very first priority.”
Following Jeongyeon’s announcement, VARO Entertainment announced that the singer has signed an exclusive contract with the agency. In a statement, the company shared, “We are sincerely happy to create a special connection with Yu Jeongyeon, who has diverse charms and limitless potential. We deeply resonated with Yu Jeongyeon’s authentic attitude and sincerity toward acting.”
VARO Entertainment is the agency for many South Korean actors and actresses, including Byun Woo Seok (변우석) and Jeongyeon’s older sister, Gong Seung Yeon (공승연). It’s believed that the 30-year-old is signing with the company for her acting career. Meanwhile, JYP Entertainment will continue to manage her activities with TWICE. It’s worth noting that having two agencies, for acting and group activities, is common amongst K-Pop idols.

With the announcement, Jeongyeon is the first member of TWICE to leave JYP Entertainment. She debuted as a member of the girl group in 2015 and has been with the company since 2010. Besides Jeongyeon, several other TWICE members, Jihyo (지효), Chaeyoung (채영) and Tzuyu (쯔위), have also sparked rumours of leaving the company. However, they have yet to confirm the speculations.
We wish Jeongyeon all the best as she embarks on her new journey. As she has stated her commitment to continuing her activities with TWICE, we hope fans can rest assured about the girl group’s future.
