Contract renewals are always a concern for K-Pop fans. Recently, TWICE (트와이스) member Jeongyeon (정연) is said to be in talks to leave JYP Entertainment to sign with another agency, leaving fans wondering about the girl group’s future.

On 24th June 2026 (Wednesday), news outlets reported that Jeongyeon recently met with VARO Entertainment, prompting speculation that she’s considering moving to the agency. VARO Entertainment currently houses actors, including Byeon Woo Seok (변우석) and Gong Seung Yeon (유승연), the idol’s older sister.

Since VARO Entertainment mostly houses actors, it’s possible that the TWICE member was looking into signing with the company to expand her acting career. A representative from the company confirmed that they recently met with Jeongyeon. However, the agency said nothing has been decided regarding an exclusive contract.

Jeongyeon’s current agency, JYP Entertainment, also commented on the news, saying, “TWICE is currently in a period of contract renewal discussion.” The company added, “We’re proceeding with careful deliberations while respecting the mutual intentions of the members.” Understandably, the statement sparked concern among ONCEs (TWICE fans).

Many wondered if Jeongyeon’s possible departure from JYP Entertainment would affect TWICE’s group activities, or even spark a group hiatus. However, others noted that Jeongyeon can still participate in group activities while signed with another agency, as many other idols have done.

In case you’re wondering, TWICE previously renewed their contracts as a whole group after their initial exclusive contract expired in 2022. The K-Pop sensations celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2025 with the launch of their “THIS IS FOR” album and world tour, which will conclude in Seoul next month.

For now, TWICE’s future as a group remains unclear. However, given the members’ close-knit relationship, they may still find ways to continue working together while pursuing their individual activities.
