For watch enthusiasts and G-SHOCK fans, the new G-SHOCK 40th Anniversary collection is a stylish way to kick in 2023!
Casio has launched the latest addition to its series of shock-resistant G-SHOCK watches in celebration of G-SHOCK’s 40th anniversary. Available in six Adventurer’s Stone models, they were inspired by stones that adventurers have long used as compasses to navigate since the Middle Ages. In line with the brand’s concept of continuous innovation that inspires people to take on new challenges, the design of this line is based on the value that these stones have always had for people seeking adventure.
The metal bezels on the watches are forged and textured to simulate the rough feel of stone. The rough surface is additionally honed, and the top and sides are finished with hairline and mirror finishes for a crystalline appearance. The bezel is treated with one of many various colourful ion platings to mimic the look of that particular mineral and the distinctive way it shines depending on the light and cross section of the stone, ranging from basic black to rainbow. The anniversary emblem can be found etched on the case back, where four stars for 40 rest on the band loop, and the inscription “SINCE 1983” on the dial.

GM-5640GEM
Rainbow x Black
In its original GM-5600 form, this model incorporates a design inspired by sunstone, a stone associated with “bringing about victory.” To recreate the multicoloured sparkle of the sunstone, the entire bezel is coated with rainbow-colored ion plating and sparsely veiled and ion plated in black.
GM-114GEM
Gold x Black
The GM-114GEM is inspired by calcite and is based on the GM-110 with its unusual dimensional dial. This stone comes in a variety of colours and is said to “lead onward to success.” The rough black resin band matches the calcite design, and the gold and black ion plating creates a unique two-tone effect.
GM-2140GEM
Blue x Blue
In the simple form of the popular GM-2100, this model takes on the appearance of the cordierite stone, which is connected with “showing the way”. The stunning cordierite blue is replicated with a blue ion plated metal bezel and band created using the Garal moulding technique, which combines two different colours of resin.
GM-S5640GEM
Rainbow x White
A smaller version of the GM-5600, this design is made in the image of the translucent calcite. On the bezel, laser etching is overlaid with rainbow ion plating to imitate the crystalline pattern and refracted light glow of calcite. The dial and bracelet are both embellished with the same motif.
GM-S114GEM
Purple x Black
This model was inspired by purple calcite and was designed with the GM-S110 as its base. This design has an overall purple ion plating, with sides masked at 2 and 7 o’clock, and a grey ion plating on the bezel, recreating the distinct colour of purple calcite.
GM-S2140GEM
Gold x White
This model is based on the GM-S2100 and features a design inspired by yellow-gold calcite. The bezel is gold ion plated, while the dial and hour markers are vapour deposition, which recreates a clear yellow for this type of calcite.
