For decades, RIMOWA has collaborated with cultural voices to share personal stories, exploring the dedication and resilience required to master one’s craft. In keeping with this commitment, the German luggage house unveils a new short-form series spotlighting extraordinary talents at pivotal moments in their careers, offering intimate, behind-the-scenes portraits that celebrate both craft and personal milestones.
In a series of photographs and films, directed by French-Moroccan filmmaker Otman Qrita, the inaugural episode centres on award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh as she receives the Honorary Golden Bear at the opening ceremony of the 76th Berlin International Film Festival, recognising her enduring contributions to cinema.
Reflecting on the recognition, Yeoh said the honour carried deep personal meaning. “I never imagined that a girl from Malaysia, who loved discipline, dance, dreaming without limits would travel so far through stories,” Yeoh shares. “My path has crossed languages and cultures, continents and genres. Sometimes gracefully, sometimes a little painfully but always guided by curiosity and deep faith in cinema.”
To mark the occasion, RIMOWA’s artisans at the brand’s historic production in Cologne, Germany, created a bespoke aluminium case designed to house the Golden Bear. The case follows the iconic design codes from RIMOWA’s Classic Collection, such as the signature leather handle and shiny silver accents, as well as a TSA-approved lock. The bespoke case also includes a thoughtfully designed inlay with a custom-shaped slot, allowing the bear to rest securely in transit or be elegantly displayed at home.
The new series reflects RIMOWA’s long-standing commitment in spotlighting resilience, bravery, and creativity. More episodes, following the intimate moments of inspiring talents reaching their personal milestones, are set to be released later in the year.
