G-SHOCK is a brand that isn’t afraid to venture into the unknown, with daring yet traditional designs that are suitable for everyone. Casio introduced a groundbreaking collaboration with Against Lab, a Malaysian streetwear brand that celebrates hustlers, today.
Casio and Against Lab are teaming up for the first time to release this limited-edition G-SHOCK DW-6900AL22 timepiece that is only available in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia.
The Inspiration Behind It
This partnership is inspired by the mental toughness of people who face daily obstacles, and it reflects the quintessential Malaysian spirit; The Grind. This limited-edition timepiece, built for hardness, sturdiness, and tenacity, represents the essence of what Malaysian Grinds, particularly bikers, are made of.
Motorcycles are already a common sight in Malaysia, and they are designed to be economical, easy to maintain, fast, and dependable. It’s utilised for everything from conducting business to completing daily duties. The mentality of G-SHOCK is reflected in the spirits of motorcyclists, as both are founded on the same pillars.
The Design Process
The major design feature for this partnership is the design language inspired by motorbike components. Matte black with little embellishments is the overall aesthetic. The bespoke AGAINST tyre tread graphic and the company phrase “ALL ENDEAVOUR, NO SURRENDER,” both printed on the watchband, are standout features.
The watch face features a clean “AGAINST” tiny logo font, as well as a hidden “A” logo backlight. The metal chrome watch face is inspired by motorbike exhaust pipes, while the orange outline is inspired by signal lights. Finally, the notion is completed with the engraved steel on AGAINST LAB’s brand mascot, “A-Man,” on the rear of the timepiece.
The new watch is retailed at RM500 and will be available from 28th May 2022 (on Casio Lazada Official Store) and 3rd June 2022 (at selected G-SHOCK stores and authorised dealer stores). As a bonus, the Watch comes with a G-SHOCK x Against Lab bandana.
