Hong Kong star Jackie Chan (成龙) is famous for his martial arts movies and stunts. However, he’s also undeniably infamous for his numerous affairs with women. One of them in particular has had a long stand-off with the actor.
Former beauty queen Elaine Ng Yi Lee (吴绮莉) reportedly had an affair with Jackie in 1999. She later had a daughter by him, but the duo were never on good terms again. Although it has been over two decades now, Elaine’s most recent post on Weibo indicates the former lovers are still feuding!
Elaine hasn’t exactly had a good relationship with both Jackie and her daughter, Etta. She previously disowned her daughter after a disagreement over Etta’s chosen female partner. However, Elaine recently has been willing to be kinder to Etta, and apparently that includes defending her from Jackie’s supposed slights.
Yesterday (22nd May), Elaine uploaded a post on her Weibo directed at Jackie. She mentioned no names, but netizens could infer the intended recipient from her content. “The child is innocent,” she declared. “I am responsible for my willfulness. The child shouldn’t be corporally punished unless (she) makes a mistake.”
According to Elaine, the outburst was incited by Jackie’s tendency to use them for publicity. She claimed he had hit her snapping point and was finally done with him. “What parent doesn’t want their children to be respected?” she asked. “It has been more than 20 years, the harm to children is too great. Can you stop?” Elaine also apologised for the affair, claiming the responsibility lay with her and not with Etta.
Netizens were quick to leave comments on her posts. One netizen agreed with Elaine that children shouldn’t be held accountable for their parents’ wrongs. “I hope that a certain superstar will have more publicity,” Elaine responded. “And (I hope) they don’t belittle me and my children for publicity, it will hurt them too much.”
Another netizen opined that she shouldn’t have said anything at all. “(Why) would they stop?” they said. “The more you talk, the more eloquent they have to be, so silence is golden.” However, Elaine firmly disagreed. “My silence has hurt my child too much.”
Elaine, Etta and Jackie have made plenty of headlines before, thanks to their sordid family affairs. However, Elaine clearly hopes that this is the last time Etta will be involved in their disputes. After all, Etta herself supposedly refused to acknowledge Jackie Chan as her father and vice versa.
