There has been a shocking new update in Darren Wang’s (王大陆) military service evasion controversy. News outlets recently reported that the Taiwanese actor is facing jail time for illegal date use related to his conscription scandal.
On 22nd April 2026 (Wednesday), the New Taipei District Court sentenced the actor and his girlfriend, surnamed Que, to six months of prison each. Darren was found guilty of illegally obtaining and using the personal data of Chen Cheh Ming, the ringleader of the military draft evasion syndicate in which he was involved.

According to reports, Darren previously sent Chen Cheh Ming NT$3.6 million (approximately RM452,000) to help him evade his mandatory military service by forging false medical records. However, the ringleader subsequently lost contact after he was jailed for suspected drug trafficking and fraud charges.
Darren assumed that Chen Cheh Ming had fled with his money without delivering the service, prompting him to issue a fraud report to the police. The authorities would later investigate the actor, revealing that he had asked others to obtain Chen Chih Ming’s personal information and recover the given money through legal and illegal channels.

The case also involved a separate financial dispute concerning the star’s girlfriend. Que reportedly lost NT$4 million (approximately RM500,000) in an investment scam, prompting Darren to coordinate efforts to recover the money. The couple allegedly provided personal details of the supposed fraud suspect to obtain additional information about their family members.
Prosecutors indicted Darren, Que and several others on charges including document forgery, leaking confidential information and violations of the Personal Data Protection Act. All jail sentences are commutable to a fine.
