A few days ago, Oscar-winning actress Tan Sri Dato’ Michelle Yeoh (杨紫琼) fulfilled her mother’s wishes to have a wedding banquet in her hometown to celebrate the star’s marriage to long-time partner Jean Todt. While the actress is still in her hometown, she decided to plan a big family reunion with her extended family.
The actress shared about her family reunion through her social media accounts, showing photos of her family in a home. In her caption, Michelle wrote, “In Ipoh, and was so happy so many siblings, cousins, (and) family came from all around the world to celebrate.” The world-renowned star also shared a photo of her and Jean posing with her mother, Datin Janet Yeoh.
In the post, Michelle also gave the public a look at her extended family with a photo taken at the Chew Museum. The private museum in Jalan Kampar, Ipoh, houses the history of the Chew family in Ipoh, which includes Michelle’s family, the Yeohs. She even thanked the Lim family for hosting her and her relatives at the museum, which displays memorabilia of her and her ancestors.
Of course, Michelle’s Oscar was not left out during the trip because the actress also brought the golden statue to the family reunion. The gold statuette appeared in the foreground of the family photo, placed alongside other pictures and albums. Some of Michelle’s relatives, who were at the Ipoh wedding, also got a chance to pose with the star and the coveted award.
Local netizens also shared their happiness for Michelle and her family reunion. Many had welcomed her back to her hometown and wished her a wonderful stay. Some also showed amazement at the photos, which reveal how large the Yeoh family is. Fans of the actress also hoped that the star would stay in Ipoh for a little longer for a chance to meet her in person.
It’s nice to see our homegrown hero spending quality with loved ones, especially after spending so long abroad.
