While there have been some cases of inconsiderate delivery riders, we’ve also seen many heartwarming stories of kind people showing their appreciation to the riders. However, some people seem to lack common sense and tend to look down on riders for a multitude of reasons.
Some expressed that they’d rather not have a delivery rider as a partner while others demanded riders to deliver their order right up to their floor regardless if the building’s lift was working or not. This rider, unfortunately, was shocked when a customer decided to throw cash at him instead of politely handing it over. Here’s what happened:
Yesterday (Monday, 10th July), a Lalamove delivery rider who goes by Mohd Yusmadi posted a story on the VideoMalaysia Facebook group along with a photo of his motorcycle in the rain and a RM5 note on the ground. According to the rider, he went to deliver a customer’s order that night when it was raining heavily. However, instead of politely handing over the money, the customer threw the cash onto the pillar.
Since it was raining that night, the cash was apparently blown away by the wind and landed on the ground. “It was raining heavily and I was drenched despite wearing a raincoat. Some customers really look down on us. This person threw the money at me cause they didn’t want to get their hands wet. I can only think of my kids. I have to buy food for tomorrow,” the rider said.
The man wrote that he had to remain calm and pick up the money off the ground. The post went viral on both Facebook and Twitter with netizens asking the rider to be patient during these trying times. Some criticised the customer for poorly treating the rider simply because it was raining. A few suggested that he should’ve taught the customer a lesson for being so rude.
Hopefully the customer realises their mistake and won’t repeat this in the future.
