In recent years, food delivery rider jobs have become increasingly popular, especially during the pandemic. Apart from being able to earn a steady income, they can also enjoy flexible working hours. Hence, we’ve seen a vast number of youngsters taking on delivery jobs as well.
A boarding teacher named Muhammad Yusof took to his Facebook this week to detail his unexpected meetup with one of his students, who is currently working as a GrabFood delivery rider. The posting has since gone viral on social media, garnering over 2.6k likes at the time of writing (Friday, 24th February).

“I was having my meal at a restaurant earlier. When I reached there, I saw my student dining in as well. After he was done with his meal, he approached me and paid his respects. While we were chatting, he told me that he’s taken up the job as a delivery rider for Grab. He also said that his income is enough to support his family members,” Yusof shared. That said, he didn’t specifically reveal on whether the rider was still studying or had graduated.
The educator from Johor further revealed that he offered his student some money. However, the young man surprisingly turn it down. “I handed him some cash, and he said, ‘It’s fine, Sir.’ He only asked that I pray for him. After finishing my meal, I was informed by the cashier that the Grab rider had paid for my meal. He may not be wealthy, but has a good character. May God bless my student in this life and the hereafter,” he concluded his post.

Scrolling through the replies, many netizens praised the rider for his well-mannered and respectful attitude. “A great example of an ABC – ‘Anak yang Baik lagi Cerdik’ (Kind and smart kid),” FB user Budikesuma Wijoyo remarked. “A good student is a result of the teachers’ good upbringing,” Halimaton Saadiah commented.
