It’s appears that many are opting to stay away from 1 Utama Shopping Mall for the time being.
Earlier this morning, Chinese publications Sin Chew Daily and China Press reported that another Covid-19 case has been confirmed at the mall.

This time around, the employee that tested positive for the deadly virus works at Parkson. According to the company, the Parkson Elite 1 Utama outlet will be closed until further notice. Sin Chew Daily received the confirmation directly from Parkson in regards to the new Covid-19 case.
Just minutes ago, 1 Utama Shopping Mall released the following statement:
“1 Utama is currently working closely with Parkson to give them our full support on this case, which has been immediately attended to since receiving confirmation of Estee Lauder staff’s positive Covid-19 test results. Swift action has been taken by Parkson to conduct a comprehensive sanitization exercise, with their store staff undergoing tests as well as 14 days quarantine. Contact tracing will be carried out by MOH.”

“We wish to point out that the affected staff’s access to Parkson was via Parkson’s dedicated staff entrance/exit which is not open to the public. Rest assured our entire mall building has also been disinfected, with 1 Utama frontliners working very hard throughout all hours of the day to keep the mall clean and to step up in every way we can.
“Thank you for your continuous support throughout this challenging period. It means a lot to us! It’s been quite a week for us here at 1 Utama. However, we remain positive… that the pandemic which has struck the world and Malaysia is once again uniting us all. This is a time not for hate but for more compassion and kindness. Saying a little prayer to those recovering will go a long way.”
