If you’ve been loyally following “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” over the years, we’ve got good news for you.
Last month, show runner Julie Plec officially announced that the upcoming “The Originals” season 5 will be the final season. There’s still hope though (pun intended). Rumour has it that The CW is currently working with Plec on a potential spin-off series.
During a recent press tour, The CW’s president Mark Pedowitz hinted that there could be a spin-off series centring on Hope, the supernatural daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall-Kenner. “Julie and I and the studio have had many a discussion, nothing has come out of it yet, but Julie really wants to get the final season of ‘The Originals’ done, but I am hopeful and if Julie wishes to do it, I look forward to a spinoff down the line…that’s really up to Julie at this point,” he said.
Hope was brought into the main storyline in season 4 and she’ll continue to have a growth boost in season 5. Called a tribrid, the character possesses genes of a witch, werewolf and vampire. As such, the full extent of her powers remain a mystery. “There’s been many discussions about the character Hope. I’m very interested if she wishes to do it in the ‘The Vampire Diaries’ universe,” Pedowitz added.
During the season finale of “The Vampire Diaries”, Caroline Forbes opened a school for supernatural children like her own (with the help of Klaus himself). It’s been confirm that Caroline will be making a cameo in the next season of “The Originals”. Perhaps, the next spin-off may focus on the supernatural kids in the school as well.
