#Travel: 7 Reasons Why Oasia Hotel Downtown Should Be Your Travel Choice

Singapore is a choice for many Malaysians who want a weekend or short getaway, but there’s always the question of deciding where to stay.

With the opening of Oasia Hotel Downtown in Singapore, it means that we have another choice of lodging.

The hotel, operated by Far East Hospitality (Singapore’s largest operator of hotels and serviced residences), opened quite recently on 18th April. It houses 314 rooms (made up of the Superior Room, Deluxe Room, as well as Club Room) and aims to help guests “Journey Well” during their travels by standing by their 3 wellness pillars – Refresh, Recharge, and Refuel.

We were invited to check out the place, and we have to say, we were thoroughly satisfied with the service and amenities provided. Here are 7 reasons why Oasia Hotel Downtown should be your first choice of accommodation:

1. The MRT is just a stone’s throw away

Well, if we have to be honest, we would say that this is one of the reasons why you should choose Oasia Hotel Downtown as your choice of residence during your holiday. The hotel is only less than a minute’s walk away (because it’s just right opposite!) from the Tanjong Pagar Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station, which will bring you to any tourist spots of your liking.

The stop is also on the same line (East West Line) as Changi Airport, so this means that you won’t have to go through several interchange stations before arriving at your destination.

If your destination is inaccessible by MRT, you can always call up the concierge, who will be glad to arrange transportation for you. Complimentary shuttles will also be available on weekdays to certain locations, but this service is only provided for those who opt to stay in their Club Rooms.

2. Food and drinks are easily available

Look what’s for dessert! It’s none other than @themarmaladepantry’s signature dessert, the Sticky Date & Toffee Pudding. Trust us, it doesn’t only look good, it tastes heavenly too! #TheMarmaladePantry #FarEastHospitality #StayOasia #JourneyWell #OasiaDowntown #OasiaHotelDowntown #Dessert #Noms #Travel #Food

Food is always a concern when travelling. While street food is the best, you always run the risk of contracting food poisoning or a mild stomach ache if the food served isn’t hygienic. So if you’re afraid of eating outside, or just pure lazy, there’s always the choice of “The Marmalade Pantry”, the restaurant located in Oasia Hotel Downtown’s lobby. We wouldn’t say that the food there is cheap, but it isn’t exactly cutthroat expensive either. For the delectable food offered there, such as their Quinoa and Beetroot Salad, Seared Scallop and Prawn Pasta, and Arrabiata, it is very much worth it. Also, the portions are humongous, so rest assured that your stomach will be filled after the meal. Craving for something sweet? “The Marmalade Pantry” has it all. They boast an extensive amount of cakes and desserts, so if you wanna just chill somewhere, this is the place for you.

Wanna grab a drink but don’t wanna go too far? ‘Fret not, there’s always “Cin Cin”. “Cin Cin” means “cheers” in Italian, and true to its name, you’ll have plenty of fun here. If you don’t know what to get, head bartender Fadly will gladly recommend something for you, and he always services with a smile!

3. They have 3 swimming pools for a splashing good time!

Ooh, guess what? There are 2 identical swimming pools at each end of the hotel, to ensure that you’ll always get to bask under the sun (or avoid it) ? Since they are situated at the highest floor, there is a spectacular view to enjoy! #FarEastHospitality #Hotel #Travel #Lifestyle #Singapore #OasiaHotel #StayOasia #OasiaDowntown #JourneyWell

You wanna go for a swim, and you change into your swimming suit, only to find out that the pool is already filled with people. Well, in Oasia Hotel Downtown, you won’t face this problem. There’s 1 infinity pool on the 21st level and 2 identical pools on the top most floor of level 27, so you can take your pick!

The best thing is, the 2 pools on the topmost floor are on different ends of the building, so it ensures that you’ll always get to bask in the sun (or avoid it)!

However, if you insist on privacy, there’s the infinity pool at the 21st floor. It is restricted to those staying in their Club Rooms, and you’ll even enjoy an unlimited flow of snacks and drinks courtesy of their club lounge.

4. The meticulous thoughts put into it

Rest assured that you will be well taken care of during your stay at Oasia Hotel Downtown as they have prepared the very best for their guests. They are working together with “Biology”, a popular Australian hair care and skin care product, to provide you with their range of toiletries, such as their body wash, shampoo, hair conditioner, and body lotion. The Aromatherapeutic range of products, which is made of a combination of active native plant DNA complexes, aromatic essential oils, as well as antioxidants, will ensure that you are well-rested after your warm bath.

If you ever crave for some tea after that, there’s always the TWG Teabags specially curated for you. The chamomile, English Breakfast, and grand jasmine teabags are at your disposal, and should you require more than what they supply, you’re always welcome to call up room service for a refill. If tea is not your thing, coffee is available too! Tripod’s Coffee Pod are provided in your room, and you can choose your flavour depending on how strong you want it to be. There’s the Red Fedora (mild), Black Panama (slightly stronger), and the Grey Gaucho (very strong).

5. It’s open air and you can enjoy the natural environment

Unlike most corporate-like hotels, Oasia Hotel Downtown believes in the open air concept. They utilise the space, design, and natural elements to provide a comfortable and cosy environment for travellers. Natural elements like copper and wood are also consistently used along with living and breathing greenery on the interior and exterior of the hotel. They do not want to restrict guests, instead, they encourage guests to go outdoors as much as possible. On the 12th floor is a plot of empty land dubbed the Sky Terrace, and guests are welcomed to exercise, rest, or even interact there. For the more active ones, you can even play a game of futsal!

In line with the open air concept, the lobbies are placed at the 12th and 21st floors, with the latter specially designed for club members. You can enjoy the spectacular view of Singapore here while enjoying the cool breeze. Red aluminium meshes also surround the hotel building, and 21 different species of creepers are allowed to grow around it in order to create a vibrant mosaic of colour and life.

6. Smart technology to accompany your every step

When travelling to another country, you might not always have the choice of accessing your data plan, or even make calls and send SMSes because of the exorbitant rates charged by telcos. Oasia Hotel Downtown takes this into consideration and provides you with a “Handy” smartphone in every hotel room. It may not sound like much, but this smartphone is equipped with unlimited mobile Internet, unlimited calls to Singaporean and international (only to selected countries) numbers, exclusive offers and discounts, as well as a guide to the country.

There’s also the Smart TV, where you can switch through an array of television channels for something that suit your tastes. It can also function as a monitor, as you can stream your own content from your phone, be it documents, videos, or even music.

7. Workout all day errday at their 24-hour gym

Yes, you read that right. While most hotels lock up their gym by certain time, Oasia Hotel Downtown allows guests the freedom of accessing the health bar anytime they want. This is particularly useful for those who function on a different time zone or are there on business purposes and have to work during the day. This way, you won’t have an excuse to skip on your workout! ;)

Here are more photos of the place, in case you’re curious:

Oasia Hotel Downtown is located at 100 Peck Seah Street, Singapore 079333. For bookings, you can call up their hotline at +65-68818888 or visit their website.
