Trekkies, where you at? We may be getting our first glimpse at the 3rd “Star Trek” film very soon!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer of “Star Trek Beyond” will be released ahead of screenings of the upcoming “Star Wars” film, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens“.
Before J.J. Abrams signed on to helm the upcoming “Star Wars” reboot, he directed the first 2 films in the rebooted “Star Trek” franchise, which are “Star Trek” (2009) and “Star Trek Into Darkness” (2013). However, he later announced that he would not be directing the 3rd “Star Trek” film as he wanted to helm “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” for Disney and Lucasfilm.
The “Star Wars” reboot will be released in selected theaters on 17th December before being officially released everywhere in North America on 18th December. Since it’s a highly anticipated film, scores of upcoming movies are expected to screen their teasers as well, including “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice“, “The Huntsman: Winter’s War“, “Independence Day: Resurgence”, and “X-Men: Apocalypse“.
Additional potential films include “Captain America: Civil War“, “Finding Dory“, and “The Jungle Book“.
Directed by Justin Lin, “Star Trek Beyond” is based on a script written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung. It stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Pegg, Anton Yelchin, and John Cho. Idris Elba will be joining the threequel for the first time as a villain while Sofia Boutella has signed on for a mysterious role. Abrams is overseeing the production.
“Star Trek Beyond” is slated for release on 22nd July 2016.
