“Manners maketh man.”
Not sure what that means? Then let us teach you a lesson ;)
“Manners maketh man” is the tagline from this year’s surprise hit, “Kingsman: The Secret Service“.
Directed and co-written by Matthew Vaughn, the film starred a slew of Hollywood A-listers including Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, and Michael Caine. It also introduced us to the young rising stars Taron Egerton and Sofia Boutella.
The movie is based on “The Secret Service”, a comic book series created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. It is considered Vaughn’s most successful movie to date as it received mainly positive reviews from critics and has grossed over USD401 million at the global box office.
None of the actors except Egerton are confirmed to be returning for the 2nd instalment as well.
Egerton originally had a scheduling conflict with the project, as he was supposed to work on Lionsgate’s “Robin Hood: Origins” in February next year. This created a conflict with the sequel’s start date, as Fox wants to begin filming “Kingsman 2” in April 2016.
But now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, things worked out between the 2 studios. Lionsgate decides to shoot its film after “Kingsman 2” wraps its production, which will likely be at the end of summer 2016.
Egerton will now become the star of 2 studio franchises.
“Kingsman 2” is confirmed to be released on 16th June 2017. It will go head to head with Warner Bros’ “Wonder Woman” in the 2nd weekend of release.
Vaughn is currently developing “The Golden Age”, a film adaptation of a comic book about superheroes in a retirement home at 20th Century Fox. He also produces “Eddie the Eagle”, an upcoming British-American sports comedy drama film that stars Egerton and “X-Men” actor Hugh Jackman.
He was lined up to direct the reboot of “Flash Gordon” for Fox too.
