Time and time again, Universal Music Malaysia has brought some of the most popular musicians such as Us The Duo and Bastille to Malaysia for promotional showcases. The Chinese division of the company also previously made K-Pop fans’ dreams come true by bringing a slew of K-Pop artistes such as Royal Pirates and EXO-M to Malaysia.
With no intentions of stopping their surprises, Universal Music Malaysia Chinese announced that Cube Entertainment‘s new girl group, CLC, is coming to Malaysia for promotional tour.
Formed by Cube Entertainment, CLC is a 5-member South Korean girl group that debuted with the release of their EP, “First Love”, earlier in March this year. The group’s name is an initialism which stands for CrystaL Clear.
Prior to their debut, Cube announced that the group would be a multi-national girl group as it will consist of a a 19-year-old Thai member named Sorn, who was also the winner for the 2nd season of “tvN K-Pop Star Hunt” (our exclusive pre-debut interview with her here). At that time, the 16-year-old Sorn was automatically signed to become a trainee under CUBE Entertainment, home to popular Korean artistes such as 4MINUTE and BEAST.
Sorn’s proficiency in Korean, lovable appearance, and trainee life have apparently charmed the public when she appeared in an episode of SBS documentary programme “When Charles Met Chulsoo”.
CLC also captured public’s attention by holding multiple small-scale charity concerts and busking in Hongdae prior to their debut. According to Cube Entertainment, the girl group regularly donates all the money they’ve made from their busking projects as they hope to participate in charity campaigns not just through their physical and moral efforts, but also through their music.
Naturally, CLC’s popularity has grown quickly in the Korean music scene, especially after it was revealed that Korean superstar Rain choreographed part of the choreography for their song, “Pepe”.
After making their comeback in April with the release of “Eighteen”, CLC released their 2nd mini-album titled, “Question” in May. One of the songs from the album, “Hide & Seek”, was apparently composed by Ilhoon of BTOB.
Though they’ve long ended their promotion for “Question”, they will still make their way to Malaysia soon for a promotional showcase. You can check out their adorable video greeting to Malaysian fans below:
