When it comes to debuting a new idol group, Korean talent agencies have many different ways of making sure that the group captures the public’s attention by allowing them to perform at a mini concert or showcasing their talents at a variety show. Case in point, CUBE Entertainment‘s upcoming girl group CLC. They’re currently gaining fans by holding multiple small-scale charity concerts or busking in Hongdae.
After months long of anticipation and excitement, the moment we’ve been waiting for is finally here. CUBE Entertainment confirmed that CLC is finally going to debut this month.
South Korea’s top record label CUBE Entertainment is the home to some of the leading K-Pop idols like 4Minute, B2ST, G.NA, and BTOB. Last December, the label set fans abuzz with its announcement about debuting its first multinational girl group in Korea with “tvN K-Pop Star Hunt S2” winner Sorn.
Thai-native Sorn (real name: Chonnasorn Sajakul ชลนสร สัจจกุล) was only 16 years old when she was crowned the winner of “tvN K-Pop Star Hunt S2“. As a winner, she was automatically signed to become a trainee under CUBE Entertainment. Prior to her idol training, we managed to score an exclusive interview with her, where she talked about her hopes and dreams to change the face of the K-Pop music industry.
Sorn’s training sessions at CUBE Entertainment have left many wondering if she even made it that far because she is the foreign member of the group and Korean isn’t her first language. Fortunately, everything was revealed in a rare “Arirang Special” video featuring Sorn’s training sessions in the company. The video shows how she gets through her daily training sessions comprising of singing classes, dancing classes, and language classes (just to name a few), with great emphasis on her perfecting her command in the Korean language.
Having impressed many with her talent in the video, CUBE Entertainment confirmed that she is ready to make her debut alongside the members of CLC this month.
A representative of the agency told Korean media outlet OSEN that the group is set to debut in the middle of this month.
The rep said:
We are planning to debut CLC in the middle of this month. It will be Cube’s first multinational girl group, as it includes Thai member Sorn. We recently finished filming for the album jacket and music video. A great deal of time and care has gone into the preparation, so we are planning to present you with something unique that is completely different from the basic girl groups.
The identities of the remaining CLC members have yet to be revealed, but netizens are speculating that the girl group will consist of Sorn, Oh Seunghee (오승희), Yoojin, Seungyeon, and Yeeun. The members are known for busking in the artsy areas of Seoul and they have impressed many with their skillful singing and dancing.
Thus, it came as no surprise to us that CLC already established a strong international fan base even before their debut.
UPDATE (9th March, 1pm):
CUBE Entertainment has confirmed that their newest K-Pop idol group, CLC (CrystaL Clear) will debut with their first mini album come 19th March 2015.
