Malaysian influencer Yang Bao Bei (杨宝贝) has been kept busy since the beginning of 2022! After she alleged that YouTuber Chris Hoo had sent people to beat her up, things spiralled out of control. Both Chris and another YouTuber Song Yi claimed YBB had orchestrated a grand scheme for revenge against influencer Lim Shang Jin (林尚进).
Some spoke up against YBB like Shang Jin’s unofficial girlfriend Gatita Yan (Tong Lee Yan) and former Cathryn Lee stalker Carrick Tan. However, YBB recently came forward to clarify matters and to officially apologise to Shang Jin!
YBB posted a public apology to Shang Jin yesterday (11th January) on Facebook. She stated that she had once cherished their friendship, but had ruined everything with her actions. “Last August, I called to apologise to you. (But) I didn’t expect you to apologise to me,” she said. Shang Jin had apparently claimed he had been reluctant to testify against her in a video he released with five others.
Shang Jin had wanted to help her with her debt, but didn’t have enough money. Additionally, he decided to not press charges against her as he still wanted the best for her. “I’m sorry for letting you down after you cherished me,” she wrote. “Thank you for choosing to (ignore) the harm I did to you.” YBB also publicly apologised to Qiu Wen and Gatita Yan as they were “innocent but involved in the incident“. “I do not ask for your forgiveness, but I wish you a good life forever,” she said.
Aside from making public apologies, the influencer denied several allegations that had been made against her. She refuted Carrick’s allegations of her attempting to prostitute herself after she was looking for ways to pay off her debt. “He kept messaging me after we got home that someone would (buy) me with a meal or two,” she stated. “I refused him directly, said I was unwilling and stopped replying him.”
Additionally, YBB brought up some claims China Press had made in an article. Apparently, someone had approached the Chinese media claiming to be a friend of YBB’s. The source alleged that YBB had tried to blackmail a certain influencer by tricking them into bed with her. YBB had supposedly gotten the influencer drunk and brought them to bed. Afterwards she purportedly blackmailed him by reporting him to the police for rape, unless he followed her orders. YBB denied the claims and added that the source was not factual at all.
Although it’s great that she’s attempting to make amends with Shang Jin, it’s been almost half a year since she supposedly apologised to him. Netizens are wondering why she didn’t speak up sooner and allowed people to continue slandering the YouTuber.
Additionally, Shang Jin has never mentioned the apology either. However, he has moved on to greener pastures and has been having a busy time with Gatita. Well, hopefully YBB has learned her lesson and will continue improving herself.
