Weekend Highlights: What’s Happening In Klang Valley On 22 to 24 May

From date nights to solo resets and chaotic nights out, the Klang Valley is stacked this weekend (22–24 May). Whether you’re in the mood for laughs, movement, music, or a wholesome wander, here are our Hype picks for what’s worth leaving the house for.

Comedy Mixtape Vol. 46

Sat, 23 May • 9PM • Kedai KL (Mahsa Avenue)

If your week has been… a lot, this is your sign to laugh it off. Comedy Mixtape Vol. 46 brings open-mic chaos, retro mixtape energy, and a reliably solid lineup of local comics. Expect punchlines that hit, bits that maybe don’t (that’s the fun of it), and a crowd that’s just here for a good time.

It’s intimate, a little unpredictable, and exactly the kind of night that turns into “one more drink” after the show.

Photo Expo: Play Ball & Birth of a Ballgame

Fri, 22 May • From 12:30PM • Mexican Embassy, KL

A slower, more thoughtful pick for your weekend: this photographic exhibition dives into ancient Mesoamerican ballgames — think history, culture, and stunning visuals all in one space.

It’s niche in the best way, and perfect if you’re in the mood to wander, learn something new, and feel just a little bit cultured before heading back to your usual plans.

The Lessons of Silence (KL festival)

Fri – Sat, 22 – 23 May • 8:30PM • The Godown KL

This one’s not light viewing; but it is powerful. This Indonesian production strips dialogue away completely, telling a tense story of survival, race, and class through pure movement and expression.

Art Markets, Performances and More: What To Do In The Klang Valley This Weekend!

It’s raw, intimate, and quietly devastating. If you like theatre that lingers with you long after the lights go up, this is the show to catch.

Sunny Side Up Market

Fri – Sun 22–24 May • 11AM–10PM • The Campus Ampang

Weekend markets, but make it meaningful. Sunny Side Up returns with over 40 women-led brands, bringing everything from handmade accessories to artisanal snacks and wellness finds.

It’s the kind of place where you go “just to browse” and leave with three bags and a new favourite local brand. Come hungry, come curious, and bring a friend who loves a good wander.

South Asian Gaelic Games + Afterparty

Sat, 23 May • Bukit Kiara (Games) + Healy Mac’s Changkat (Afterparty)

Sport by day, party by night. The South Asian Gaelic Games take over Bukit Kiara with a full day of matches, food vendors, and community vibes. Even if you don’t know the rules, the energy is enough to pull you in.

Then, it’s straight to Healy Mac’s Changkat for the official afterparty. Think cold drinks, loud music, and that post-game buzz that turns strangers into friends.

NEVER STAND STILL

Fri – Sun 22–24 May • KongsiKL

Contemporary dance, but make it immersive. Zulkarnain Zuber’s NEVER STAND STILL brings together four interconnected works exploring movement, stillness, and everything in between.

It’s expressive, a little abstract, and visually striking — ideal if you’re craving something artistic that doesn’t feel static. Go in open-minded and let the performances do the talking.

Whatever your vibe — chaotic, chill, cultured, or somewhere in between — this weekend’s looking like a good one. The only real question is: how many plans can you realistically fit in?

CHART HER COURSE

Immersive experience by Lightbeam for MISC

Ending the list on something a little different. CHART HER COURSE is an immersive experience designed to inspire more young women in Malaysia to consider careers at sea — and it does so in a way that feels fresh, thoughtful, and visually striking.

Brought to life by the WeAreKix crew, the experience blends storytelling, design, and tech to spotlight possibilities beyond the usual career paths. It’s purposeful, inspiring, and a reminder that sometimes the coolest experiences are the ones that shift your perspective entirely.
