BLACKPINK’s (블랙핑크) youngest member, Lisa (리사), has been constantly making her name big in the Hollywood scene from back-to-back. It was previously announced that the K-pop idol would be making her acting debut by appearing as a cast member in the third season of the HBO TV series “The White Lotus.” Since the announcement, fans have been eagerly waiting for the day Lisa appears on their screens to come.
Recently, the popular American magazine Vanity Fair recently unveiled the cover for their annual Hollywood issue featuring A-List actors and up-and-coming stars including Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Bill Skarsgard and more. To many Lilies’ (Lisa’s fans) delight, the rapper is also included in the lineup. However, not all fans were happy to witness the good news.

After the full list of cover stars was unveiled, a variety of reactions surfaced online. Many netizens questioned Lisa’s qualifications and eligibility to stand on par with other renowned American stars in the film industry, with some speculating that her rumoured boyfriend, Frederic Arnault, played a role in her rise in the Hollywood scene. While some fans acknowledged the 27-year-old singer’s upcoming acting debut, they still felt uncertain about how she fit into this category.
Amidst the negative responses, there were also supportive comments, with fans expressing pride in Lisa’s latest achievement. Supporters defended the rapper, arguing that she deserved the spotlight given her significant impact in the industry. Others praised Vanity Fair for the bold lineup, noting that this year’s edition would likely be iconic in the years to come.

It seems that the critics have received their answer as Vanity Fair’s Editor-in-Chief, Radhika Jones, addressed why the K-pop idol was chosen for the magazine cover lineup. In a recent exclusive interview on CBS Mornings Plus, when asked about the decision-making process, Radhika used Lisa as an example and stated, “Lisa’s incredibly famous, but we’re going to introduce her in a new context, and it’s nice to be able to create that mix.” The editor also praised the “Moonlit Floor” singer as a risk-taker, noting that she has great potential to become as prominent as the other featured movie stars.
