Ever since it was announced that a sequel to the iconic film “The Devil Wears Prada” is in the works, fans have gone wild. Many were thrilled to learn that Meryl Streep will be reprising her role as Miranda Priestly, given that she never does appear in sequels throughout the entirety of her career, although she did make a brief appearance in the “Mamma Mia!” sequel.
The main plot of the upcoming film remains largely a mystery, but several reports have suggested what it could be about and whether it will draw inspiration from the sequel novel “Revenge Wears Prada”. Whatever the case, fans will be eagerly watching, and earlier today (Thursday, 13th November), we finally got our first official look at the film, featuring two beloved characters. Watch:
20th Century Studios uploaded a one-minute teaser trailer for “The Devil Wears Prada 2”. The promotional clip shows Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) walking into the Runway building, wearing her iconic red Prada heels. Staff members can be seen parting like the Red Sea to make way for the fashion mogul as she heads to a lift. The video also teases models getting dressed in glamorous outfits and jewellery, presumably for a photoshoot.
Finally, we see Miranda entering the lift, and as the doors begin to close, Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) stops them so she can step inside. If you recall from the first film, no one dared to enter the same lift as Miranda, but in this teaser, Andy confidently stands beside her, greeting her warmly. Her former employer replies, “Took you long enough,” as the doors close.
Fans were sent into a frenzy as soon as the teaser dropped. Many expressed that they are eagerly anticipating watching the film in cinemas when it premieres in May 2026, the same week as the annual MET Gala. Others noted that the four main characters in the sequel are played by actors who now all hold Academy Award credentials. A few fans hoped that the plot would not draw too heavily from the sequel novel, as it did not live up to the expectations set by the first.
