Malaysian brand Christy Ng has been gaining popularity in recent years for its designs and affordability. Unfortunately, once a fashion brand goes viral, there’s bound to be replicas of its products.
Recently, Christy Ng, founder of the local brand, shared a video of her visiting a few stores in China that were selling counterfeits of her designs. In her video, she quipped that her brand has gone international, sparking sales of fake replicas. However, she also lamented that many customers purchase these counterfeit products, but then visit her stores in Malaysia to ask for exchanges.

It’s unclear which part of China Christy and her team visited in the video. However, the stores appear to be located in a mall selling similar counterfeit products. As shown in the video, the fashion designer and her staff members examine these fake bags and wallets, noting their similarities to the real deal. However, the video doesn’t mention the price of these counterfeit Christy Ng products compared to the originals.
While speaking to one of the store’s shopkeepers, Christy questioned about the bags and the customer base. According to the staff, a majority of people who purchase the bags are Malaysians and Indonesians, suggesting a high demand for counterfeit Christy Ng products. One store even admitted that their factory produces these fake products, not knowing they were speaking to the brand founder herself.

Christy then ends the video, urging people to buy original products, noting that there’s not much price difference. The video has since received over a million views on TikTok and amassed over a thousand comments. However, netizens have mixed reactions to the counterfeit products. While some also condemned the sales and purchases of the fake Christy Ng bags, others reinstated the brand’s own controversy of allegedly copying other designers.
Interestingly, some netizens suggested that Christy purchase these counterfeits and compare them to the original bags. For now, it’s unclear whether the brand would take action against these counterfeits, but what are your thoughts on this?
