On 17th August earlier this year, renowned K-pop vocalist Doh Kyungsoo (도경수), widely known as D.O (디오), took over Axiata Arena for his highly anticipated appearance in Malaysia after six years. During the “Asia Fan Concert Bloom” in KL, local fans were delighted when Kyungsoo shared photos of himself enjoying Malaysian delicacies, fully embracing the local experience.

It seems the “Mars” singer couldn’t move on from his KL trip nor forget the taste of Malaysia’s food, as he mentioned eating roti tisu in Malaysia during the second day of his closing fan concert tour in Seoul last Saturday (12th October 2024). In a video posted on Twitter by @/squishylilbear, Kyungsoo can be seen sitting for his talking segment while photos of him savouring the crispy flatbread were shown in the background.

The 31-year-old K-pop idol couldn’t contain his excitement when the concert’s MC asked the name of the dish, to which Kyungsoo confidently replied, “It’s naan.” Although the EXO (엑소) member got the name of the food wrong, he continued enthusiastically, saying, “It was my first time eating it, and it was really long.” He added that tearing the bread into pieces wouldn’t taste as good as eating it whole and dipping it into a sauce.

When the MC asked how long the roti tisu was, Kyungsoo eagerly responded, “I think it was about 1 metre—it was really long,” while gesturing the length with his arms, leaving the crowd in disbelief. He then asked the audience if they had ever tried the dish, to which they responded with a unanimous “no.” Smiling adorably, Kyungsoo encouraged them, saying, “It’s delicious,” suggesting they should give it a try.

Local fans were thrilled and amused by the superstar’s story, with many voicing their pride as Malaysians. Some fans expressed hope that the vocalist would come back to Malaysia soon, just so he could enjoy roti tisu again. Others couldn’t help but gush over his adorable enthusiasm and expressions as he shared the experience.

We look forward to seeing Kyungsoo enjoying roti tisu again soon here in Malaysia!

Here’s a video of Kyungsoo during the event:
