In the whirlwind world of modern work culture, what defines a successful employee? Is it merely meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) every month, or does it delve deeper into a realm of unwavering commitment and round-the-clock availability? Malaysian entrepreneur Dato Sri Aliff Syukri has ignited a fiery debate with his viral TikTok post, championing the notion that a truly successful employee is one who is always reachable, regardless of the hour.
According to the businessman, the secret ingredient to workplace victory lies not just in executing tasks efficiently but in being perpetually on-call for your employer, even during weekends or after-hours. In his charismatic digital discourse, he underscored the importance of never shying away from the boss’s call, no matter the time or place.

“Staff shouldn’t be calculating when the boss contacts them – whether it’s during office hours or beyond,” Aliff declared with trademark charisma. “A boss appreciates someone who’s always ready to answer the call, no matter when it comes.” With that being said, the millionaire also highlighted the importance of transparency whenever one is not available. “Inform your boss, whether you were in the shower or taking a dump. Just don’t leave them hanging in silence,” he quipped, infusing his wisdom with a touch of humour.
In the controversial figure’s view, an employee’s willingness to answer the call speaks volumes about their dedication and respect for their superiors. “By being responsive, you’re demonstrating your commitment and dedication to the job,” he explained, underlining the symbiotic relationship between employer and employee.
Netizens had a lot to say about Aliff’s video, with folks falling on different sides of the fence. While some gave him a virtual high-five, others weren’t so keen on his approach. They pointed out that job descriptions don’t usually come with a “24/7 on-call” clause and that work-life balance is a real thing we all need.

Many felt that this mindset could easily turn into bosses taking advantage of their employees. Contrary to what Aliff thinks, some argued that most bosses don’t actually appreciate staff who are always available, seeing it more as a sign of a toxic work culture than true dedication.
What do you think? Is Aliff’s approach the secret sauce to professional success, or is it a recipe for disaster? Watch the full video here:
