From Farm To Table: True Aussie Beef & Lamb Promises Halal Meat With MLA

by Rachel Chuah
September 17, 2021

Food is an important part of any culture, especially for Malaysians. As Malaysia has a diverse community, ensuring food fits all our friends’ requirements is important. Most people aren’t very strict about their food and their requirements often differ from person to person. For our Muslim friends however, it’s vital that their food is halal.

Well, you’re in luck! With the help of Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), a marketing body for Australian halal beef and lamb, True Aussie Beef and Lamb delivers meat that is definitely halal. Here’s how they ensure their meat is halal certified.

Although we often recognise that halal meat is special, not many are sure what sets it apart from non-halal meat. The Arabic word “halal” means “lawful and permitted”. Halal meat indicates that a set of conditions regarding how the animal is treated, slaughtered and processed is adhered to. It also abides by the Islamic law of not mistreating the animal nor inflicting pain on it during its lifetime. The animal should be provided with enough space, clean water, food and fresh air.

Australia has been a trusted supplier of halal meat products to over 100 countries, which include the Middle East, Indonesia and Malaysia. With its lush green pastures and regulated animal welfare, the animals are certainly well cared for. There’s also an upside to raising stress-free animals. MLA has proven that these animals produce better quality meat which is not only consistent and hygienic, it’s also safe and nutritious.

The cattle processed for the Malaysia market are supervised by Muslims from the Australian Government Supervised Halal Program. Not only that, processing facilities in Australia only employ registered and trained Muslim slaughtermen from the Halal Certifying Bodies.

These facilities ensure all requirements pertaining to personal hygiene, operational sanitation and animal welfare are complied with. Of course, JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development of Malaysia) has recognised and approved these Halal Certifying Bodies. Representatives from JAKIM and the DVS (Department of Vetinary Services of Malaysia) also regularly audit the Halal systems and production facilities.

Malaysia’s demand for halal meat grows with its Muslim community. As such, we need a trusted source for halal meat, which is where True Aussie Beef and Lamb delivers. Although beef and lamb often bring to mind western cuisine, don’t be mistaken. They’re versatile enough to be used in Asian cuisine for delicious and nutritious meals. It also takes less time to cook thanks to its quality, freshness and tenderness.

If you’re ever in need of guaranteed halal beef or lamb, look no further than True Aussie Beef and Lamb. With MLA’s guidance, you can be sure their meat is halal and tasty! Perfect for everyone.
