Football luminaries from all over the world gathered at the London Palladium last night for the 2026 Ballon d’Or Ceremony to determine who will win the title of finest baller of the year.
Harry Kane became the first Englishman since Michael Owen in 2001 to take home the award and was almost at a loss for words in his speech. “Wow, wow, wow. I’m almost speechless. Lucky I have this list,” he said at the start of his acceptance speech for the Ballon d’Or, classing him as the world’s best football player.
He was up against Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappé, and Lionel Messi of Inter Miami.
We care about more than simply the football, of course. We’re also keeping an eye on the events taking place on the red carpet. The attendees did not show up wearing their team’s shirts and boots dirty with grass. The dress code was rather prim and respectable, much like the PFA Awards.
We’ve seen Kylian Mbappé in Dior, Erling Haaland in a navy Dolce & Gabbana suit, and Jude Bellingham in a double-breasted Louis Vuitton suit over the years. There are several finished top buttons, tucked-in shirts, and bow ties, which are great ideas for any formal gatherings you have planned.
Harry Kane
Lapels with points. Buttons coated with satin. shoes that are polished. For his big night, Harry Kane dons a traditional Thom Sweeney ensemble.
Lamine Yamal
The 19-year-old and now 3 time winner of the Kopa Trophy breaks up the sea of black suits with a comically large pink corsage and a cropped fit Chanel suit. Not sure about the moustache though.
Kylian Mbappe
Kylian kept it simple by turning up in a Dior velvet tux with a satin shawl lapel, and a Hublot watch.
Luis Diaz
Lucho pulled up in a a boxy, collarless black jacket, ultra-baggy trousers and some bling to cap off his fit.
Michael Olise
Mr. Nonchalant brought pure elegance to the red carpet and completely stealing the show with a double-breasted suit detailed with rows of striking contrast buttons.
Ousmane Dembele
Last year’s winner of the award went with a burgundy Zegna look to the ceremony.
Yan Diomande
The lapel’s sewing. The brooch of gold. the pants with pleats. When it comes to breakout-star Diomandé’s Dolce & Gabbana suit, the details are crucial.
Johan Manzambi
One of my favorite youngsters after last season and current Aston Villa talisman, Johan Manzambi, turned heads with his blacked out Saint-Laurent made apparent with his matching golden brooch.
Kerstin Casaprij
Casparij wears cropped pants and large sleeves. It makes a compelling case for experimenting with the dimensions of your outfit.
Malik and Kate Scott
Husband of the night’s co-host, Malik, was one of the first to arrive, and did so without a shirt!
