Some K-pop idols have been referred to as having an “SM face” or a “YG vibe”, highlighting the different images for the various South Korean entertainment agencies. Idol-turned-actor Im Siwan (임시완) recently showed how stark the differences are.
The 37-year-old recently shared new profile images after signing with THEBLACKLABEL. At the same time, he also revealed teaser images for his first solo album, “The Reason”, which will be released under SM Entertainment’s subsidiary, SMArt. Given that these two labels are known for their distinct aesthetics, it’s no surprise there was a clear difference in styling.

In some of his photos for THEBLACKLABEL, the star wore a black suit, posing with a dark background. The other images show Siwan in a dark sweater with minimal makeup. However, all the photos had a professional aura, making them feel like a series of headshots capturing the multifaceted actor’s visuals.
On the other hand, the teaser photos for “The Reason” showed the star in a softer and idol-like appearance. His blond hair was loosely styled and paired with cream and white clothes. The photoshoot also focused on a natural vibe, with Siwan posing with various props. Some shots felt casual, as if a friend took them.

However, SMArt also released another set of concept photos that blended soft and edgy. In the pictures, Siwan wore a black leather coat over a black tank top. Accompanying his blond hair is pink-tinted makeup and fake freckles. While most of the pictures show the star posing with a serious expression, one image showed him smiling brightly behind the camera.
Netizens have shared amusement at the different images Siwan portrayed through his profile photos and teasers. Overall, fans agree that the actor can pull off any look and styling. Which aesthetic do you prefer for the star?
