You’ve probably heard about foot-long subs, but have you heard about foot-long… fries?! 2024 is coming to a close, and many foreign businesses have recently made their national debut, just like this franchise here. That’s right, Thailand’s famous foot-long fries, Toro Fries, has finally opened an outlet in Malaysia.

The franchise was first introduced to our nation earlier in May of this year when it was featured during the 31st International Franchise Exhibition in KLCC. Now, only 7 months after its first appearance, it has opened its first chain at Gurney Plaza, Penang!

What makes these fries different from others is that they only use domestically sourced potatoes from Idaho in the United States, which provides a sweet taste and makes the fries crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. These aren’t your typical deep-fried snacks; the potatoes were mashed and squeezed through a machine to create and maintain their long shape.

A box of fries with two sauces costs RM19.90, and a third sauce choice costs an additional RM2.50, which we’re sure you’ll need, as they have over 12 different yummy options! From truffle to sweet potato cheese, there’s surely something for everyone here. You will undoubtedly crave more after tasting the drizzle of condiments over the hot, crispy fries.

These potato treats are insanely popular in their home country, and we have no doubt that our people, especially Malaysian foodies, will feel the same way about them! They’re only available in Penang for now, but we’re sure as time goes on, more outlets will be opened nationwide. Are you excited to try these foot-long fries?
