When a local brand reaches a significant milestone, it usually calls for a celebration, especially for the customers, to thank them for their continued support over the years. Some brands offer discounts or limited-time promotions, while others hold contests where every participant walks away with something.

ZUS Coffee has experienced rapid growth in recent years, even surpassing global competitors such as Starbucks in terms of the number of outlets nationwide. Now, the brand is preparing to celebrate its latest milestone, the opening of its 1,000th outlet, but in an unexpected way: by closing (almost) all its stores across the country. How does that work, and what does it mean? Here’s the explanation:

Yesterday (Tuesday, 21st October), ZUS Coffee released an official statement announcing that it would be closing its operations for one day to celebrate the opening of its 1,000th outlet. The brand began by expressing its gratitude for the public’s support before explaining the reason behind the temporary closure.

“We couldn’t open our 1,000th outlet without pausing to appreciate how far we’ve come. So yes, we’re closing, but just for one day (23rd October), to celebrate our 1,000th outlet together with the people who made it possible. This milestone belongs to everyone who has been part of ZUS Coffee,” the statement read. In the comments section, the company clarified that not all its stores would be closing. Instead, some outlets will close early at 6pm, while a few will continue operating as usual.

Outlets closing at 6pm include:

  • 1 Utama Shopping Centre
  • Aurelius Hospital Negeri Sembilan
  • Kompleks SOGO, Kuala Lumpur
  • KPJ Ipoh Specialist Hospital
  • Mid Valley Megamall
  • Pavilion Bukit Jalil
  • Plaza Shah Alam

  • Sunway Pyramid
  • Sunway Velocity Mall
  • Suria KLCC
  • The Exchange TRX
  • The Mall Mid Valley Southkey
  • ZUS, Coffee Meets Pastry – 1 Utama Shopping Centre

Of course, the company didn’t forget about its customers.
