Good news, Swifties! Taylor Swift may have some bad blood with Katy Perry, but she has gotten back together with Spotify and other music streaming services including Google Play, Pandora, and Amazon Music.
The news was first announced on Taylor Nation – her official Instagram fan account. According to the star’s rep, the move came in celebration of “1989” selling more than 10 million copies worldwide.
Tay Tay removed her albums from Spotify in 2014 and no streaming service besides Apple Music was able to stream it. While her decision received backlash from listeners, she explained that streaming services didn’t compensate artistes fairly.
“All I can say is that music is changing so quickly, and the landscape of the music industry itself is changing so quickly, that everything new, like Spotify, all feels to me a bit like a grand experiment,” the singer said. “I’m not willing to contribute my life’s work to an experiment that I don’t feel fairly compensates the writers, producers, artists, and creators of this music.”
Swift’s rep confirmed that 5 of her albums – including “1989” (2014), “Red” (2012), “Speak Now” (2010), “Fearless” (2008), and “Taylor Swift” (2006) – will be made available on streaming services starting Friday (9th June).
