When it comes to romantic comedy films, “13 Going On 30” is high up on the list of favourites. The 2004 movie remains one of the most beloved films of its genre and even seems to withstand the test of time. So, how will a reboot of the film fare?
Recently, Netflix confirmed that a reboot of “13 Going On 30” is coming to its platform, over two decades after the original film came out in theatres. While the plot of the reboot remains under wraps, the streaming platform has revealed other major details. Here’s what we know about the reboot so far:
Jennifer Garner To Serve As Executive Producer
The star of the original 2004 film, Jennifer Garner, is set to play another role in this reboot. Rather than being in front of the camera, the actress is on board the project as executive producer. Jennifer is also the executive producer of the “13 Going On 30” musical, which premiered in September 2025.
Emily Bader & Logan Lerman Set As Leads
Playing the leads and filling in the shoes of Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo are Emily Bader and Logan Lerman. Both stars have experience in rom-coms, so it’s safe to say that the roles are in good hands. Emily recently starred in Netflix’s “People We Meet On Vacation”, playing Poppy. Meanwhile, Logan recently starred in the dark romantic comedy film, “Oh, Hi!”, as Isaac.
Brett Haley To Helm Director’s Chair
Speaking of “People We Meet On Vacation”, director Brett Haley will also take on the director role for this project. The filmmaker commented about the reboot, saying, “I’m a longtime fan (of “13 Going On 30”), so stepping into this reimagining comes with tremendous responsibility. Jennifer Garner being on board as an executive producer, after playing such a big part of what made the original special, is especially meaningful.”
There are also questions about whether Mark Ruffalo will be involved in the film in some way. While there’s no news on that yet, let’s hope that the actor will at least agree to a cameo. Are you excited for this reboot?
