Just weeks after his arrest for evading his military service, Taiwanese actor Darren Wang (王大陆) is now facing a more serious charge. Police recently arrested the star over suspicions of attempted murder of an e-hailing driver.
According to reports, the actor was arrested on 4th March 2025 (Tuesday) on suspicions of orchestrating a violent attack on an e-hailing driver and a ride dispatcher in Taiwan. Police have recommended charges of attempted murder due to the severity of the attack. The incident reportedly happened after Darren rode with the driver in April 2024. The actor was allegedly dissatisfied with the ride, as the driver used a car he disliked and took a longer route.

The actor then allegedly contacted a friend with gangster connections to attack the driver and the dispatcher. The attack was said to be quite brutal, but there are no reports of the type of injuries sustained. The victim would later report the case but was unaware that Darren had orchestrated the attack. Authorities connected Darren to the attack after finding incriminating messages and photos on his phone that was confiscated during his previous arrest.
Darren was arrested at his home in Taipei. He was later transferred to the New Taipei District Prosecutors Office for further investigation. However, as of 5th March 2025 (Wednesday), he has been released on bail of NT$5 million (approximately RM680,000). His agency said the case is still under investigation and thus cannot comment on the issue. This arrest comes after the star was caught for attempting to evade his mandatory military service.

In February, Darren was implicated in a scheme to evade military service by allegedly faking a medical condition. He was one of 11 people investigated for connections to a scheme that facilitates men to avoid service. He also reportedly forged medical documents. The 33-year-old was released on NT$150,000 (approximately RM20,330) bail. However, the case is still under investigation.
As investigations for both cases are ongoing, it’s unknown what the actor’s fate would be. Nevertheless, Darren’s image has been severely impacted by these two cases. What are your thoughts on this?
