Global pop group XG (엑스지) is currently in a tough spot after their producer, Simon Jakops (사이먼 제이콥스), was arrested for alleged drug use. While the members themselves had no direct involvement, they recently released a statement on the issue.

On 24th February 2026 (Tuesday), XG released a statement via their social media page about the recent allegations regarding their producer and agency CEO. Earlier this week, news outlets reported that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police had arrested Simon, whose real name is Simon Junho Sakai (酒井じゅんほ), on 23rd February 2026 (Monday) for allegedly violating Japan’s Narcotics Control Act.

According to reports, Simon and three other individuals had allegedly used drugs, including cocaine, while staying at the hotel. The authorities reportedly seized cocaine and marijuana at the scene. The four suspects were taken into custody in the early hours of the day. The weekend prior, XG was performing at the IG Arena as part of their ongoing world tour, “THE CORE”. The case is currently under investigation.

In their recent statement, XG and their agency acknowledged the situation, issuing an apology to ALPHAZ (XG fans) for causing concern and inconvenience. XGALX also said they will cooperate with the authorities in the investigation. However, they also clarified that the members had no involvement in the matter. The agency also mentioned providing support for the group, prioritising their safety and well-being.

XG also shared a message to their fans, saying they are deeply shocked and confused by the news. However, the group expressed gratitude towards ALPHAZ for their support and understanding, adding that they will continue to dedicate themselves wholeheartedly towards their activities. Fans have reacted to the statement, showing support for the group amid the situation.

It’s unclear whether the news will affect the group’s world tour, which kicked off its Japan leg earlier this month. Whatever happens, we wish the XG members all the best and hope they can continue their activities without issues.
